ICE CREAM on Saturday afternoons, or Family Home Evenings (aka Monday Nights). We would make our way to the local drug store and get ice cream cones when chores where complete or for a treat, and Dad always found a reason for a treat. That is where my parents could afford to take all 6 of us kids in one shot. And every single time it wound up being under 5 bucks for a family of 8. We all liked the same flavor, and the amount of ice cream in the cone was insane. Thrifty Ice Cream has a specialy designed dipper for packing all that creamy goodness into the cone without breaking it and I asked if I could purchase one of thoses novel dippers. Nope, they are only to be sold to the ice cream counters and they are somewhere around 60 bucks a piece for them, in my dreams!
